One-minute World News

Dear students,

In this session, we are going to share our ideas about watching the news.

Listen to the One-minute World News and choose one of the stories to take notes.

What is the story about? Who were involved in the story? Where did it happen?

Then, post your comments on the blog. How useful did you find the task? What have you learned?
Good luck!

  1. An illegal taxi driver in China's Sichuan province hit a police officer and sped around the city with him hanging on to the bonnet for 5km (3.1miles).

The police had tried to stop the driver for a routine inspection, but Ma Jian, who already had 10 previous violations and was operating an illegal taxi, refused to permit the inspection and sped away from the police.

The police said the car reached speeds of up to 150kph (94 mph). He was finally stopped and the officer, Huang Teng, fell unconscious.
